Professor Alice Tay was a former Board member of the Freilich Project and President of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC). In her memory, the inaugural Alice Tay lecture was held in 2005 on the theme of ‘Human rights and law’. The lecture, co-sponsored by the Freilich Project and the HREOC, took place at Parliament House. The Alice Tay lecture series continues to explore human rights and their intersection with bigotry and is held annually at ANU.
